Management
Get support through diagnosis, change in prognosis and/or symptom development
Increase coping mechanisms & process feelings and difficulties related to medical diagnoses or disabilities (physical, intellectual, or learning) with a hard-of-hearing clinician deeply familiar with these challenges
Medical & Dental
Phobias
Reclaim negative experiences in a positive and safe environment where you have control
Receive integrated Mindfulness and Exposure Therapy treatment to allow you to become comfortable with challenging images, sounds, smells, or feelings
Decrease potentially negative consequences of medical phobias such as avoidance of doctors visits
Single Episode & Chronic Medical Trauma
Process traumatic memories related to medical settings including single-episode trauma (car crash, accident, emergency surgery) and chronic trauma (frequent tests, surgeries, or procedures)
Grounded in gentle and empathetic approaches such as TF-CBT and Narrative therapy with a focus on reclaiming bodily autonomy
Acute & Chronic Pain Management
Increase coping mechanisms and learn skills in both acute and chronic pain management
Acute pain management program includes assessment to determine the most effective techniques for you & safe guided practice sessions to decrease anxiety around anticipated acute pain such as port accessing, injections, IVs, dental care, blood draws, and more
Upcoming Medical Event & Procedure Preparation
Work through feelings, fears, and anxieties surrounding upcoming medical test, procedure, or surgery
Prepare for an upcoming procedure by getting involved in fully immersive experiences that allow you to develop comfort and familiarity with the sights, sounds, and feelings you will experience in the medical setting
End-Of-Life
Counseling
Openly discuss dying process with a end-of-life trained clinician
Explore all of the thoughts you might have about the end-of-life, such as fear of the unknown, concern about remaining friends/family members, or relief that your suffering is not permanent
Includes planning & communicating end-of-life wishes and working through legacy-leaving projects
Treatment Delivery
Medical Trauma Treatment can be accessed in-person in Santa Fe, or with Telehealth throughout New Mexico and Colorado
When needed due to health-related limitations, the clinician may be able to meet with you, your child, or your family in your home or in hospital settings
Please note that individuals must be 12 years or older to independently attend Telehealth appointments. If your child is under 12 years old and you would like them to receive Medical Trauma Treatment through Telehealth, a guardian must be present and active on the call for the duration of the appointment
In addition, if you would like to receive any of these services through Telehealth, some of the immersive elements listed above may not be possible or safe to perform without in-person guidance from the clinician and therefore removed from your treatment plan
Medical Trauma Treatment Pricing
In order to protect our clients privacy in the current sociopolitical state, we do not directly submit claims to health insurance
At this time, we only accept private pay, however we wish to keep our services as accessible as possible. If you would like to receive services with us and are concerned about the private pay rate, please reach out to our office to discuss your situation
We would be happy to provide superbills for clients who wish to submit a claim to insurance on their own behalf
