Specialized Child-Centered Care
Play is considered an important part of physical and psychological healing for children, and is thought to be the primary way children process difficult experiences. We can help your child reorganize traumatic memories, understand what has happened in the past, and prepare for something that will happen in the future, while prioritizing healing and the return of control and bodily autonomy.
Our medical play-based therapy interventions are formed in evidence based practices and influenced from the clinician's previous training with hospital-based child life specialists.
In this program, we create individual treatment plans for every child. If your child has a condition or medical experience that requires play-based treatment, we will source, create, or modify the materials and toys for use in-office as needed for their treatment
Accommodations are also offered, such as infection control procedures (extra cleaning before session, air purification, first-of-the-day appointments, mask wearing, & glove wearing), wheelchair accessible tables for play, and more
Please note that the level of interaction for medical play-based therapy requires in-person attendance and is not available through telehealth

Treatment Delivery
We understand what it is like to experience health-related problems, and how difficult it can be to care for a medically complex child. Because of this, we adapt the treatment delivery case-by-case. This treatment program can be delivered individually with the child, child-focused with a guardian, carer, or aid in the room, or through a family therapy approach.
In specific cases the clinician may be able to provide housecalls, meet in a public setting, or provide services in medical settings such as hospitals or hospice centers.
At this time, we only offer direct services for children in-person, which includes the Northern New Mexico region, as our minimum age for telehealth is 12 years old. However, if you have a medically complex child and are not close enough for in-person services, then we can offer telehealth parent/guardian coaching to help you develop therapeutic play-related skills, so you can facilitate some of these interventions directly for your child.
We also offer individual therapy for parents of medically complex chidren through telehealth, so you can process your experiences and maintain your own mental and physical well being.
WE CUSTOMIZE, CREATE AND/OR MODIFY MEDICAL ITEMS & TOYS FOR COMFORTABLE
AND SAFE IN-OFFICE USE. FOR MORE INFORMATION VIEW GALLERY HERE

Pediatric End-Of-Life Services
Hearing that your child will be placed on hospice is one of the most heartbreaking moments of a parent's life. It can be stressful and confusing to navigate your own feelings while managing a critically ill child.
Our clinician is trained in the pediatric end-of-life process, and can help you, your child, and your family process what is happening during this difficult time.
Your experiences with our end-of-life program will be empathetic and understanding, and can include assistance understanding the dying process, help facilitating difficult conversations, and working through legacy-leaving projects, all while spending quality time with your child and family.
This program integrates guardian-only sessions and family therapy, and is typically done in-person. The clinician may also be able to visit your home or hospice facility. If you are not able to attend in person, parent/guardian coaching on facilitating legacy-leaving projects & individual counseling for the guardian(s) is availble through telehealth.
